Thought provoking, engaging, cathartic, enraging, comforting, beautiful – art can be so many different things.

Withing the art galery and the production house of Studio Stekt artistry forms the basis of thinking. Through art we illuminate and research other forms of art and the world, but crucially we also question art itself – how she works, what roles she can play, how she moves and gives meaning.

Studio Stekt offers independent artists a stage for the sale of their work in the (for now only) online art gallery. Additionally the studio also functions as a production house for artists, offering dramaturgical and productional supervision. The studio also organises art exhibitions and theatre and performance productions as a way to connect with other artists and a larger public.

The (developing) art catalogue of Studio Stekt is therefore an eclectic collection: photography, painting, sculpture, graphic work, soundscapes, music, performance, film, dance, etcetera – all manner of artistic thinking and research are given the space to grow.

Cental in all of this is the simultaneously unifying and revolutionising quality of art: across distance and time, straight through boundaries and dividing lines we think experimentally. International, inclusive, and interdisciplinary projects are thus explicitly encouraged.

Sustainability is an essential factor in the practices of the studio, both in the material production of the artworks, and towards and within the ideas and people that create them. Creative processes are fed with time, space, reflection, and community, in all of which open communication, diversity, and safety are centre stage.

This focus on sustainability means that the scale of the galery and production house are and will remain relatively small. Sustainability and natural growth are also at the forefront of all collaborations, sales, and marketing practices of the studio.

De kunstcatalogus (in wording) van Studio Stekt is dan ook een eclectisch geheel: fotografie, schilderkunst, beeldhouwkunst, grafisch werk, geluidswerken, muziek, performance, film, dans, en zo verder – alle manieren van artistiek denken en onderzoeken krijgen de ruimte voor groei en reflectie.

Centraal hierin staan zowel de verbindende als de revolutionaire kwaliteit van kunst: over afstand en tijd, dwars door grenzen en scheidslijnen experimenteren we met denken. Internationale, inclusieve en interdisciplinaire projecten worden daarom expliciet aangemoedigd.

Duurzaamheid is hierbij van essentieel belang: zowel in de productie van de kunstwerken, als in de ideeën en mensen die daaraan ten grondslag liggen. Maakprocessen worden gevoed met tijd, ruimte, reflectie en een achterban waarbij open communicatie, diversiteit en veiligheid centraal staan. Bij het maken wordt er daarnaast ruime aandacht besteed aan de duurzaamheid van processen en materialen.

Deze focus op duurzaamheid heeft onder andere als gevolg dat de schaal waarop de galerie en het productiehuis werken klein is en blijft. Ook in de keuzes met betrekking tot samenwerkingen, verkoop en marketing staan duurzaamheid en natuurlijke groei voorop.
